Actors have won numerous Oscars for their on-screen transformations. Here is a really, really tough movie quiz that will earn you movie geek status if you pass it.

The best compliment that an actor can receive is that the audience didn’t recognise him. Sometimes this sentiment may be expressed because the actor delivers a stunning performance, other times it happens because of his sheer physical transformation.

He’s a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.

Some of the greatest performances you can think of are the ones where the actor pushed himself beyond recognition. Daniel Day-Lewis may go method, but Eddie Murphy puts on the fat suit.

Which very conveniently brings us to the other half of this stellar duo: The make-up artist. These guys are the real unsung heroes of the movie industry, developing an age-old craft for the era of HD.

All those times actors moaned about having to sit in the dreaded make-up chair for 8 hours, and then promptly forgot about it the second some awards attention was thrown their way.
