The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday bitterly criticised Rahul Gandhi and Tajashwi Yadav over cuss words used for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a Congress-RJD event in Bihar's Darbhanga. Rahul was not present at the event, nor was RJD leader Tejashwi.

Union home minister Amit Shah, in a post on X, called the incident “a stain on our democracy” while the Bihar BJP also submitted a complaint to the police.

“Under Rahul Gandhi's leadership, Congress politics has reached its lowest level. They cannot tolerate how a poor mother's son has been sitting in the Prime Minister's chair for the past 11 years,” he said.

"From the time of being the Chief Minister of Gujarat until today, the Gandhi family has left no stone unturned in spreading hatred against Modi. However, now they have crossed all limits of propriety. This is an insult to every mother, every son, for whom 140 crore countrymen will never forgive them," Shah's post further read.

In the incident's video that's viral, someone not singularly visible in the crowd can be heard throwing abuses referencing PM Modi's late mother using the stage mic. The event was part of the Congress-led ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, and the stage had posters of Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Tejashwi.

In the post, made in Hindi, the BJP said Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi invited leaders like Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, “who had insulted the people of Bihar”, to their yatra.

“This is such a mistake that even if Rahul and Tejashwi beg for forgiveness a thousand times by holding their ears and doing sit-ups, the people of Bihar will not forgive them," the BJP further said.

Senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang also reacted to it while talking to ANI in Bhopal. "The whole world respects PM Modi, and Rahul Gandhi is insulting him in this manner. Rahul Gandhi himself should come and apologise to the public," he said.

Rahul or Tejashwi, or their parties, had not immediately reacted.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ is Rahul Gandhi's drive to further his accusations that the BJP and the Election Commission “are colluding to steal elections”.
