‘Will kill her sugar daddy’: Assam man who kept wife's severed head inside fridge

The accused expressed no remorse and threatened to kill her alleged lover if released from jail.

The 30-year-old man from Guwahati who was arrested for allegedly beheading his wife over suspicion of an extramarital affair and keeping the severed head in a refrigerator for three days on Tuesday said that he will kill his wife’s “sugar daddy” too, if he comes out of jail.

“Yes, I killed her with a sharp weapon and I have no regret about it, no apology... If I ever come out of jail, I will kill her sugar daddy...No regret, no apology,” the accused told reporters, while he was being taken to the crime scene by a police team.

According to police, the accused, identified as Ramanuj Goswami, was arrested on Sunday in Guwahati’s Hatigaon, after they recovered the body of his wife, Riya Talukdar (25), from the flat they were living in since getting married in September 2025. The incident happened on September 3, they said.

Ramanuj was booked under sections 103 (1) (murder) and 238 (destroying evidence of a crime) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and was sent to 7-day police remand.
