Foetus found in Air Asia plane lavatory, woman detained
Police said a woman who boarded the plane in Guwahati delivered “a pre-mature dead foetus”.
A woman was detained after the crew of an Air Asia flight found a dead foetus in the lavatory when the plane from Guwahati landed at Delhi airport Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Air Asia said in a statement the police detained the woman for investigation after questioning all female passengers, news agency PTI reported.
“A newborn infant was found lifeless and abandoned in one of the lavatories when the aircraft was being prepared for landing. Delhi Police were alerted and a doctor from the medical team at Delhi International Airport confirmed that the baby had been delivered onboard,” said Air Asia, adding aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation had been informed. Flight I5 784 had originated from Imphal.
A woman who boarded the plane in Guwahati delivered “a pre-mature dead foetus”, according to Delhi Police.
“We will be assisting in the investigation and cooperating with all concerned agencies. AirAsia India would like to apologise to all guests experiencing disruptions in their flight schedule,” the airline said.
