Tripura BSF jawan kills three colleagues, later commits suicide

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan allegedly shot dead three colleagues with his service weapon before turning his gun on himself early Sunday morning at a border outpost at Maguruli in Unakoti district, police said.

Shishupal of BSF Battalion no. 55 killed three others - Bijoy Kumar, Rinku Kumar and Rakesh Kumar Yadav following an altercation during their duty hours at around 3 am at the border post nearly 150 kilometers from Agartala.

Constables RakeshKumar Yadav and Rinku Kumar succumbed to their injuries at two different hospitals.

The reason for the altercation is still not known. “Investigation is on,” said superintendent of police (Police Control), HK Debbarma.

Inspector General Frontier Tripura and other Senior BSF Officers rushed to the spot for detailed enquiry, the BSF said in a press statement.

It also said that the bodies of the four men would be flown to their home towns in Jammu and 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
