Catering truck collides with parked IndiGo aircraft at Kolkata airport, plane suffers minor damage

The incident occurred when the aircraft was parked on the tarmac at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.

An IndiGo aircraft suffered minor damage after a catering truck hit the engine at the Kolkata airport on Tuesday, HT has learnt.

The incident occurred when the aircraft was parked on the tarmac at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. It resulted in a minor damage to the aircraft.

“A third-party unmanned vehicle on the apron moved and came in contact with a parked IndiGo aircraft at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata on 7 April 2026. The relevant authorities have been informed," an IndiGo spokesperson said.

"The aircraft is grounded undergoing thorough inspections and necessary maintenance before being cleared for operations. We will be closely working with the authorities to investigate this. The aircraft was scheduled to operate flight 6E 6663 from Kolkata to Guwahati. An alternate aircraft has been arranged to operate the flight,” the statement added.

The latest incident comes roughly two months after a New York-bound Air India aircraft's engine was damage after sucking in a container upon return to Delhi.

The incident occurred in January, where the aircraft while taxiing to apron ingested a cargo container causing substantial damage to engine.
