Soon after coming to power in 2017 polls, among the first few things the BJP did was to revoke Singh’s expulsion. His wife, Swati Singh, is a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government.

Muzaffarnagar’s riot accused MP, Sanjeev Balyan, was also made UP vice president. Union home minister Rajnath Singh’s son Pankaj was retained as state general secretary while Rajasthan governor and former party heavyweight Kalyan Singh’s son Rajbir failed to hold his place in the UP body.

Businessman Sudhir Halwasiya finds a place in the BJP body that has 15 vice presidents, 7 general secretaries, 16 secretaries.

Sunil Bansal, a confidant of BJP chief Amit Shah, continues as general secretary (organisation).

BJP MPs Kaushal Kishore and Rajesh Verma were made state chiefs of SC Morcha and OBC Morcha, respectively. Darshana Singh replaces Swati Singh as state chief while Subhash Yadav was made chief of Yuva Morcha.
