Three JeM terrorists killed in encounter with forces in J&K’s Pulwama

Three top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including its operational commander, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.

One CRPF jawan has been injured and taken to 92 Base Hospital.
The encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs, a police official said.
Security forces comprising the army’s counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and the Special Operations Group of the state police launched a cordon and search operation in Tral.
“As security forces tightened the cordon, militants fired at them, triggering the gunfight,” a police officer said.
Meanwhile, protests started in the area with stone pelters trying to disrupt the operation. Reports said security forces are using tear smoke shells to disperse the protesters.
