A man’s foot was severed after he came under a running train while trying to climb back at a railway station in Haryana’s Bhiwani as onlookers filmed him instead of offering help.

The incident occurred four days ago when Jain Chowk resident Krishna Kumar was going to Hisar with his wife to meet a sick relative.

Kumar got down from the train to purchase water from a shop but it started moving. He rushed to climb back but slipped on the footsteps and one of his feet came under the train.

A graphic video of the incident, which has surfaced on social media, has evoked anger among citizens as it shows Kumar picking up the severed limb himself and climbing on to the platform from the tracks.

The video shows Kumar covered in blood sitting on the tracks with his severed foot lying next to him after the train leaves. He is seen getting up with his foot and placing it on the platform. Two men, who look like police personnel, help Kumar by holding his arm to support him on to the platform.

“Extremely shameful and inhumane. They should have rushed him to hospital immediately but instead everyone is shying away from even touching him (sic),” a user Sumit Kumar commented on the video shared on Facebook.

The Hindustan Times will not publish the video because of its graphic nature.
