Mathura violence: Man who supplied arms to Jawahar Bagh mastermind arrested
Rakesh Gupta one of the supporters of Ram Vriksha Yadav was arrested by Badaun police on Friday evening, police said. Gupta who is a secretary of a local co-operative society in Badaun was absconding since the Mathura incident in which over 20 people including two policemen were killed.
Another prime accused in Jawahar Bagh violence case, Rakesh Gupta was arrested in Badaun on Friday in a joint operation by the Mathura and Badaun police.
He was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 and was a trusted lieutenant of Ramvriksh Yadav, the mastermind of Jawahar Bagh episode in Mathura.
Confirming the arrest, DIG (Agra) Ajay Mohan Sharma said, “It was a joint operation by Mathura and Badaun police. Gupta would be brought to Mathura after completing all formalities.”
Rakesh Gupta was one of the members of the core group and believed to be in Jawahar Bagh when violence broke out on of June 2.
He had managed to escape after police entered Jawahar Bagh.
Originally from Badaun, Gupta is believed to be a major arms supplier to Ramvriksh Yadav and one of the prominent financers who is said to have given Rs 10 lakh to the Jawahar Bagh mastermind.
Gupta’s arrest came two days after the arrest of Chandan Bose, the second in command to Ram Vriksh Yadav.
