Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Badaun, Ashok Kumar said, “The girl apparently hanged herself. We have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.

In their complaint lodged at Musajhag police station, the girl’s family alleged that one Lankush Singh (30) and two unidentified persons forcibly took the girl to a primary school on Monday night and gang-raped her.

The police lodged an FIR against the accused under Section 376 D (gang rape) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
