Nadda calls for putting end to ‘family-run’ parties
Addressing a meeting of the chiefs of party’s Shakti Kendras in Vijayawada, Nadda said family-oriented political parties such as YSR Congress party in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rashtra Samithi in Telangana were mired in corruption and had lacked the ability to rule the states.
The Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda on Monday called upon the people to defeat the family-run parties wherever they are, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Nadda, who is on a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh, will address a big rally, Godavari Garjana at Rajahmundry on Tuesday. He said the BJP would put up a strong fight against political parties floated and run by the families.
“Take the case of Indian National Congress. It is no longer Indian nor is it national, as its leaders are speaking from London. The Congress has become a fiefdom of sister and brother (Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi),” he said.
Stating that there was a dire need for a major political change in Andhra Pradesh, Nadda said the BJP would provide a strong leadership to the state. “We need to knock the doors of every household and explain the need for a change in the governance. We need to generate debate on the need for all round development of the state,” he said.
The BJP national president alleged that the Jagan government was claiming the central schemes as its own. “The chief minister has converted the central scheme of Ayushman Bharat into YSR Aarogyasri. While Ayushman Bharat is a pan-India scheme, under which patients can get treatment in any hospital across the country, in Arogyasri, payments would not be made for the patients getting treatment in hospitals outside the state,” he said.
Nadda called upon the in charge presidents of ‘Shakti Kendras’ to go door to door and convey to the voters in at least five booths what the BJP-led central government had done for Andhra Pradesh since the bifurcation. He also launched booklets brought out for the purpose.
He said the BJP workers should make all out efforts to see that the BJP gets a decisive mandate in the 2024 general election.
Nadda said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had changed the political culture of the country in the past eight years. “A number of welfare schemes implemented by the Modi government brought about significant changes in the quality of life of the people. Development has acquired a new dimension under Modi’s leadership,” he said.
BJP state unit president Somu Veerraju said the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh had made the lives of the people miserable and atrocities on all sections of people had gone to a new high. “We shall strive to drive away the Jagan government from power in the next elections,” he said.
