Operation Sindoor LIVE: All-party meeting about strikes today

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal expressed his support to the Indian Armed Forces following 'Operation Sindoor' and said, "We are proud of the Indian Army and our brave soldiers. 140 crore Indians stand with the Indian Army in this fight against terrorism. The courage of the Indian Army is the faith of every citizen. We are all together - united against terrorism. Jai Hind."

Security has been tightened in the national capital following 'Operation Sindoor', with additional police personnel and paramilitary forces deployed at key locations, an official was cited as saying by news agency PTI.

A senior police official said that Delhi was already on high alert, adding that multiple agencies will carry out mock drills at 4 pm.

"We have deployed more security personnel at key locations. Delhi Police is fully alert and no one will be allowed to breach law and order. Teams are keeping strict vigil on vital locations and monitoring social media platforms," said the officer.

The brother of slain Kashmiri local Syed Adil Hussain Shah, who died in the Pahalgam terror attack while trying to save tourists, hailed 'Operation Sindoor'.

The brother, Syed Nowshaad, told news agency ANI, "I thank our security forces, PM Modi, central govt and state govt for taking such a good step...they have avenged the death of those innocent people...we feel proud of our govt, we had faith in them."

The Additional District Collector of Jaisalmer, Parsa Ram, said that “Holiday has been declared in all government and non-government schools of Jaisalmer district today,” news agency ANI reported.

Pahalgam terror attack victim Lt Vinay Narwal's father Rajesh Narwal told reporters that the government of India took the right step in launching Operation Sindoor, adding that the op was named aptly as well.

"They will always remember this strike. With this action, all families will get justice," he added.

The wife of Pahalgam terror attack victim Santosh Jagdale, Pragati, said that "Operation Sindoor is fitting tribute to those killed by terrorists".

Congress leader Harish Rawat said in a video message that the Indian Army has once again made the nation proud.

"Buck up, Indian Army, you have once again proved that you will destroy our enemies. You have made us proud. It is 'Operation Sindoor', you had wiped out the sindoor of our sisters, we will not spare you. I want to congratulate the Indian Army," he said.

Rawat was further cited by PTI, "The whole India is together. By attacking the headquarter of JeM from where terrorists were prepared to carry attacks such as Parliament, Mumbai one. Now we have given a strict message that we will not spare."

Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar hailed Indian armed forces after Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and PoK and said, "the nation is proud of them".

Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi took to X and hailed India's 'Operation Sindoor' in Pakistan and PoK after the Pahalgam terror attack.

"Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!" he posted.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor noted that last week he had advocated for a "set of calibrated, calculated and precise strikes against terror targets", in his reaction to India's 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack.

"I applaud the government and stand solidly with our armed forces," he said in a post on X.

"At the same time we have behaved in a manner that would not justify further expansion of the conflict. We have made our point and acted in self-defence. Time for all concerned to act wisely to prevent uncontrolled escalation. Jai Hind!" he added.

In a separate post, Tharoor said, "So proud of my country today."

Pahalgam victim Lt Vinay Narwal's father-in-law, Sunil Swami, told news agency PTI that they got good news when they heard of India's 'Operation Sindoor'.

"We got a good news, we were waiting, Himanshi was asking when the revenge would be taken. I believe that the government has started it, we have full faith on the government. There should be a big action, so that no sister, daughter's 'sindoor' (vermilion) is wiped out in future," he said.

Swami further said, "The whole country, our family would be relieved. There is no doubt that it is Operation Sindoor, because they had deliberately killed the gents and spared ladies, they wiped out the 'sindoor'. There should be a final and decisive assault, the enemies should be destroyed."

The remains of an aircraft were found in Wuyan, on the outskirts of Srinagar, on Wednesday morning.

India named its targeted strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and PoK in response to the heinous Pahalgam attack as "Operation Sindoor".

Sources say that the name ‘Operation Sindoor’ is a reference to the red vermilion many Hindu women wear in their hair to signify their married status. During the Pahalgam terror attack, several women lost their husbands, who were killed in front of them.

Arathy, daughter of Pahalgam terror attack victim N Ramachandran, made a "big salute" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian Army for 'Operation Sindoor'.

She also said that there won't be any other suitable name for the strikes other than 'Operation Sindoor'.

"So, a big salute for those who have done this operation. A big thank you to the government, the Prime Minister and the army people who have been working for this operation...who have been behind it continuously," she was quoted by news agency PTI.

Arathy added, "Let all Indians see a comfort in this operation. Let Operation Sindoor bring some comfort and relief to all the families of victims, including Himanshi (Narwal)."

After the carrying out of Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday, the traffic towards Uri in Baramulla district was halted from Sheeri area in North Kashmir in the morning.

Reuven Azar, Israeli Ambassador to India, said in a post on X that Israel "supports India's right for self defense", adding that "Terrorists should know there's no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent".

Schools in the border districts of Punjab's Ferozepur, Pathankot, and Amritsar will remain closed on Wednesday in view of the prevailing tensions between India and Pakistan.

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge hailed India's 'Operation Sindoor' against terror sites in Pakistan in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

In a post on X, Kharge wrote, "India has an unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and PoK. We are extremely proud of our Indian Armed Forces who have stuck terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We applaud their resolute resolve and courage."

"Since the day of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian National Congress has categorically stood with the Armed Forces and the Government to take any decisive action against cross border terror," he added.

Kharge further said, "National Unity and solidarity is the need of the hour and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have shown the path in past, and National Interest is supreme for us. #OperationSindoor"

All the scheduled exams in the University of Kashmir have been cancelled for Wednesday in view of the prevailing situation following Operation Sindoor.

External affairs minister S Jaishankar took to X hours after Indian armed forces carried out 'Operation Sindoor' at nine target sites in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir and said, "The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism. #OperationSindoor"

BJP leader Altaf Thakur, speaking to news agency PTI, said, "Today, not just PoK but Pakistan's Punjab has also been attacked by our Army. By targeting terrorists hideouts through Operation Sindoor, a strong message has been conveyed terrorism is not tolerable in any condition."

The US State Department said that its head Marco Rubio spoke to the national security advisors of both India and Pakistan and urged both the countries to "keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation".

Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shubham Dwivedi, said, " I want to thank Prime minister Narendra Modi for avenging my husband’s death. My whole family had faith in him, and the way he responded to Pakistan has honoured that faith. This, to me, is the true tribute to my husband. Wherever he is, I know he must be at peace today.”

Locals from Rajasthan's Barmer woke up to the news of India's Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and PoK in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

A local, Bhagirath Gosai, said that it was important to teach lesson to the terrorists who killed innocent "Hindus" in the Pahalgam attacks.

Another local Shakoor Khan said, "I am very happy that we have taken revenge. We stand with the Indian Army. We are ready to fight for India. I feel very proud."
