Three days before the big fight over the post of the deputy chairman, the Opposition scored a victory over the NDA as their candidate CM Ramesh got the highest number of votes, 106, to get elected to the Public Accounts Committee or PAC.

Senior BJP leader Bhupender Yadav also joined Ramesh in the audit panel with 69 votes.

The other NDA candidate, Harivansh of the Janata Dal-United (JD-U), bagged just 26 votes.

Harivansh, however, is widely touted to be the candidate of the ruling dispensation for the upcoming Rajya Sabha deputy chairman election.

Elections for two seats of the panel—which works as the audit watchdog for the Parliament—was held on Monday to fill up two vacancies.
