PM Modi goes on night tour of Varanasi, takes stock of development works
The Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to Varanasi and Mirzapur to launch a number of projects worth around ₹1,000 crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a tour of Varanasi town on Saturday night to take stock of development works in his parliamentary constituency.
The Prime Minister is on a two-day visit to the temple town and neighbouring Mirzapur to launch a number of projects worth around ₹1,000 crore.
During the tour of the town, he went to a Vishwanath temple and offered prayers.
Driving slowly through the town, his convoy passed through different intersections. He went through Assi and Ravindrapuri, where heritage streetlights have been installed along the roads. From there, his convoy passed through old city areas, including Sonarpura, Godowlia, Dashashwamedh Ghat, and Maidagini via Chowk.
The convoy also passed through the Lahurabir and Teliabagh intersections before the PM inspected development works in Cantonment area.
After the inspection, he reached the DLW guesthouse for a night stay.
On Sunday, Modi will address a public meeting in Mirzapur and lay the foundation stone for the Mirzapur Medical College.
At a rally in Kachnar village, he will inaugurate or formally launch work on development projects worth ₹1,000 crore, according to UP minister Neelkanth Tiwari.
The projects include a perishable cargo centre, road repair schemes, remodelling of a town hall, a community health centre, a cancer hospital, a heritage walk, a BPO centre, and a new train service to Ballia.
UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet colleagues along with Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Manoj Sinha and Dharmendra Pradhan will attend the rally.
