Relative held as Assam minor gets pregnant after rape
Tridip Borah (45), a resident of Maijan, was taken into custody for the crime on Friday night, after her parents lodged a complaint
A middle-aged man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 15-year-old relative in Dibrugarh district, police said on Saturday.

Tridip Borah (45), a resident of Maijan, was taken into custody for the crime on Friday night, after her parents lodged a complaint. “Although the accused is a distant relative of the girl, she used to affectionately refer to him as her grandfather. He raped her nearly six months ago, while she was alone at home,” said Dibrugarh police station in-charge Sidheshwar Borah.
According to police, the matter came to light when the girl began vomiting and complaining of uneasiness a few days ago. A visit to the doctor revealed that she was pregnant.
Local residents surrounded the police station after Tridip’s arrest, demanding that he be awarded the death penalty.
The girl has undergone a medical examination, and the matter is being further investigated.
