Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav's wife Sadhna Gupta dies at Gurugram's Medanta hospital
Sadhna Gupta was Mulayam Singh Yadav's second wife. Her son's name is Prateek Yadav, who is married to Bharatiya Janata Party leader Aparna Yadav.
Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav's wife Sadhna Gupta died after a prolonged illness at Gurugram's Medanta Hospital on Saturday.
She was recently admitted to the hospital after complaining of health problems. After her condition deteriorated, she was shifted to the intensive care unit.
Sadhna Gupta was Mulayam Singh Yadav's second wife. His first wife and the mother of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Malti Devi, died in 2003. Gupta's son's name is Prateek Yadav while Bharatiya Janata Party leader Aparna Yadav is her daughter-in-law.
According to reports, Mulayam Singh Yadav, had reached the Gurugram hospital and arrangements were being made to airlift the body to Lucknow.
“The death of Mulayam Singh ji's wife is extremely saddening. I feel for the family at this point. May Lord Ram help the soul attain moksha and strength to the family to bear the loss,” chief minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted.
“Just received the sad news of the demise of Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh ji's wife. I pray for peace to the departed soul and may God give the family strength to bear the loss,” UP deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted.
Akhilesh Yadav is overseeing the arrangements and the details of the last rites will be finalised soon, party leaders told PTI.
Senior party leaders and workers started arriving at the SP patron's house soon after the news of Gupta's death broke.
