Under-construction building collapses in Dharwad, 2 killed
Two labourers died and one was critically injured when a wall collapsed at a construction site near Kadanakoppa due to heavy rain and winds.
Two labourers were killed and another sustained critical injuries when a wall of an under-construction building collapsed due to heavy rain and strong winds on the outskirts of Kadanakoppa village at Kalaghatagi taluk in Dharwad district, officials aware of the matter said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening in Misrikote near Kadanakoppa village. The deceased were identified as Dawood Savanur (52), a from resident of Old Hubballi in Dharwad city, and Rafik Saab Channapura (50) from Noorani Layout. The injured labourer, Mahantesh Chavargudda (48), a resident of Anchatgeri village in Hubballi taluk, is undergoing treatment at Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute (KMCRI), Hubballi, they added.
According to Kalaghatagi police Inspector SS Koujalagi, eight labourers were working at the construction site when sudden rainfall and strong winds forced them to take shelter below the under-construction structure, which soon collapsed, thereby, trapping three workers.
“The other workers immediately rushed the injured to KRIMS hospital, but two of them succumbed to their injuries later in the night. The third labourer remains in critical condition in the ICU,” Koujalagi said, adding that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Another labourer, Anjanappa, who was also present at the sitesaid, “The area experienced heavy rainfall around 5pm. The labourers took shelter under the centring, but a section of it abruptly gave way, injuring three workers.”
The authorities have registered a case at Kalaghatagi police station and are probing the circumstances that led to the incident, officials said.
