Earlier on Friday morning, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) which initiated the no-confidence motion against the government, launched a blistering attack warning Modi that the BJP would be decimated in Andhra Pradesh if it did not fulfil its promise of granting special category status to the state.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi later took on the government over a range of issues and accused Modi of facilitating monetary benefits for “his businessmen friends” and then went on to surprise everybody by hugging the PM.
