1 killed, 3 hurt in hydrogen gas cylinder blast in Shahjahanpur

One person was killed and three others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion during a function organised in Shahjahanpur to celebrate the birthday of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.

One person was killed and three others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion during a function organised in Shahjahanpur to celebrate the birthday of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati.

The incident occurred in Chinibagh area when a hydrogen gas cylinder used to inflate balloons exploded at Ramlila Ground, killing Rakesh Badhai (50) on the spot, district magistrate Ajay Chauhan said.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital, he said adding that an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh would be given to the kin of Rakesh.
