143 nominations filed for third phase

Thirty two nominations were filed from Kannur district and 44 from Kasargode.

A total of 143 nomination papers were filed for the third phase of polls, when the last date for filing nominations closed on Wednesday in Kerala.

Thirty two nominations were filed from Kannur district and 44 from Kasargode on Wednesday.

In the third phase, these two districts would go the polls on May 3.

Scrutiny of papers would take place on Thursday and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 17.

A total of 409 candidates are in the fray for the first phase and as many as 437 candidates for the second phase.

The elections in the state are being held in three phases.

In the first phase, 59 constituencies in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Idukki and Kottayam districts would go to the polls on April 22.

The second phase on April 29 will see elections in 66 constituencies in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam districts.
