An overcrowded jeep plunged into a river in western Nepal, killing 15 people, police said on Friday.

"Fifteen people died on the spot when the jeep carrying 16 people skidded 300 metres off the road and plunged into the Mahakali river" on Thursday, said an official at Kathmandu police headquarters.
The cause of the accident in Baitadi, 580 kilometres west of the capital, was being investigated, he said.
