16,954 visit Amarnath shrine on Monday

Around 16,954 pilgrims paid obeisance at cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir on Monday.

Around 16,954 pilgrims paid obeisance at cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir on Monday.

According to government spokesman, the yatra to the shrine went on smoothly today with 16,954 devotees paying their obeisance before the Ice Lingam.

"With this, a total of 1,29,099 pilgrims have paid obeisance at the Holy Cave since the commencement of pilgrimage," said the spokesman.

He said the clear skies enabled Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board to release the pilgrims early in the morning from the Base Camps of Baltal and Nunwan and from other camps namely, Sheshnag and Panjtarni towards the Holy Cave.
