According to VN Mathur, Member (Traffic) in the Railway Board, the maximum speed hike among express trains, 255 minutes, will be in the Patna-Ernakulam Express. The Ambikapur-Durg passenger train will be speeded up by 315 minutes, which is the maximum for any passenger train.

He was speaking on the occasion of releasing the new time table of Indian Railways which has several novel features like colour coding of trains and user friendly options like route maps and station index.

Meanwhile, the Railway Board has taken a decision to introduce the new nomenclature for all airconditioned coaches in long-distance mail and express trains to make it easier for passengers to identify them.

According to sources, AC 2, AC 3 and AC 1 coaches in every mail and express train will be termed as coaches A, B and H respectively while AC chair cars will be known as coach C. However, there is no plan to change the nomenclature of sleeper and first class coaches and they would continue to be called as F and S classes as before.
