Following the completion of scrutiny, there are 91 candidates in fray in 13 assembly constituencies in East Sikkim, while there are 45 candidates each in South Sikkim and West Sikkim with both districts having eight assembly constituencies each, election office sources said.

The authorities rejected the nomination papers of 26 candidates with West Sikkim accounting for the maximum rejection of nominations at 12, while the candidature of eight and six nominees were set aside in South and East Sikkim respectively during the day, the sources said.

The North District has the lowest number of candidates in fray at 12 in three assembly constituencies after the papers of all candidates were found to be valid during the scrutiny.

The nomination papers of all seven lok sabha candidates were found technically valid.

The withdrawal of candidature for the assembly and parliamentary polls in Sikkim can be made by April 13 next, according to the election schedule.
