200 Left supporters arrested for staging rail blockade

About 200 supporters of Left parties who tried to stage rail-blockade in different parts of the city protesting the fuel price hike have been arrested.

About 200 supporters of Left parties who tried to stage rail-blockade in different parts of the city protesting the fuel price hike were arrested on Saturday, police said.

The agitating workers were held at the two railway stations in the northern suburbs of the city - Tiruvottiyur and Ambattur and at Guindy, police said.

Meanwhile, unidentified miscreants damaged the windshields of two MTC buses at Ayanavaram in Chennai by pelting stones at the vehicles. No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Left parties have called for a dawn to dusk general strike in Tamil Nadu on Saturday protesting against the recent fuel prices hike.
