23 child labourers rescued in Vijayawada

As many as 23 child labourers were rescued during recent raids in various residential homes in the city, official sources said today.

Raids were conducted by special teams consisting of officials from the district administration, police, Labour Department and National Child Labour Project (NCLP), they said.

The rescued children will be sent to rescue homes and action would be taken against their employers. Besides, a fine of Rs 25,000 would be extracted from them, the sources said.
