23-year-old American tourist molested in Jammu

The police have arrested a person for allegedly molesting a 23-year-old American tourist. The accused identified as Gopal Krishan, 44, a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, was sitting beside the victim in the bus.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the woman, a resident of California, was travelling from Srinagar to Jammu with another US girl, a police officer said.
According to police, the victim with another US girl was coming from Kashmir by a State Road Transport Corportation (SRTC) bus.

The victim had complained to police that the accused was constantly misbehaving with her and also molested her in the bus. Both the US nationals approached the police when the bus reached Jhajar Kotli, about 20-km from Jammu.

A case has been registered under Section 841 of the Ranbir Penal Code. The police also submitted a chargesheet in the case in a court on Wednesday.
