A major fire broke out in the Geeta Colony area of East Delhi on Wednesday gutting nearly 250 shanties, fire department sources said.

The fire at the JJ cluster broke out at about 7:15 pm and the fire department team took an hour to extinguish it, the sources said.

However, no casualty has been reported so far, they said adding the cause of the fire was not known.
