26 fire incidents across state on Diwali keeps firemen on toes

A man lost his life in one of the incidents that took place at Kharola village, Rampur, in Shimla district.
Losses were pegged at around `44 lakh in the six fire incidents.
Meanwhile, three medium and 14 small incidents of fire were reported.
Fire station officer DD Sharma said prompt action of the fire officials helped save property worth `5 crore.
“The incidents were reported from various districts that include Shimla (4), Kullu (3), Solan (6), Una (4) Mandi (1) Bilaspur (1), Kangra (3) and Hamirpur (1),” he added.
“Any fire that causes loss over `1 lakh is counted as a major fire incident,” he revealed.
He disclosed that of the two industrial fires that were reported from Byana village in Baddi and Kullu, property worth `20,000 and `6 lakh was destroyed, respectively.
Another major fire incident was reported from Panjara village in Nalagarh with loss of property ascertained at `13 lakh, while `32 lakh property was saved, said Sharma.
A major house fire in Ram Shila village in Kullu district caused loss of `1 lakh to the property.
15 receive burn injuries
As many as 15 persons who received burn injuries were discharged after first aid at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).
IGMC senior medical superintendent Ramesh Chand disclosed that 15 persons that included both adults and children had reported to the hospital.
No serious case had been reported and all were discharged after first aid, he added.
