281 pilgrims leave for Amarnath in 39th batch

The 39th batch of pilgrims comprising 281 people on Sunday left for the Amarnath yatra from Jammu amid tight security, police said.

The 39th batch of pilgrims comprising 281 people on Sunday left for the Amarnath yatra from Jammu amid tight security, police said.

As many as 164 men, 56 women, 6 children and 55 seers left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp early this morning in a cavalcade of 10 vehicles for the 13,500-feet-high cave shrine situated in the Himalayas in south Kashmir.

With Sunday's batch, as many as 78,718 pilgrims have left Jammu in 39 batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.

Meanwhile, the sixth batch comprising 271 pilgrims on Sunday left from Jammu for the Buddha Amarnath shrine in Mandi tehsil of Poonch district.

The batch comprising 179 men, 83 women and nine children left in a fleet of six vehicles from the base camp at Bhagwati Nagar around 6 AM, police said.
