3 injured in fresh religious clashes in Gujarat

The clash took place over the renovation of a mosque in the city on Saturday, police said.

Three persons were injured when members of two sects of a religious community clashed with each other over the renovation of a mosque in the city on Saturday, police said.

Members of the Gorana and Saiyyed sects attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons when one of them tried to renovate a mosque in Mulla-medi area of the city.

The clash happened as both the sects claimed to own the place of worship, police said.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital while the security at the mosque was increased. The situation in the area was under control, police added.
