The accident took place when the minibus, carrying 17 people who were returning from a holiday in Alibaug, tried to overtake a bus and, in the process, collided with it. The minibus then swerved and hit a Travera.
The deceased have been identified as Jayshree Rajaram Dalvi (54), Aditi Dalvi (24) and her seven-month-old daughter Anchal.
Vaibhav Pednekar, the driver of the minibus, has been hospitalised and is being treated for severe injuries, while two others were administered primary medication and discharged. Passengers in the Travera escaped with minor injuries.
In another incident, eight people, including four of a Kalyan family, died in an accident on the Nashik-Aurangabad highway.
