"About 300 athletes from 40 Asian countries are expected to take part in the meet, which will be preceded by the Indian Grand Prix on June 8 where all the top Indian athletes would participate," Davaram told reporters.

The event would be conducted by the Tamil Nadu Athletics Association on behalf of the Athletics Federation of India at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The 83rd state athletic meet would also be conducted alongside the two events from June 8 to 10.

"This is to give the state athletes an opportunity to watch the top Asian athletes in action," Davaram said.

Stating that there would be 19 events in the Grand Prix, which would be conducted under floodlights, he said arrangements have been made to use latest equipment like photo finish camera and electronic measurements in the meet.

"Dope test will be carried out both on and off the field," said the Organising Committee chief.
