5 Jamaat-i-Islami leaders arrested

The leaders have been arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act while addressing anti-Govt demonstrations from a mosque in Karachi.

Five leaders of Pakistan's Jamaat-i-Islami have been arrested for violating the Loudspeaker Act while addressing anti-Israel and anti-goverment demonstrations from a mosque in Karachi.

According to police, those arrested were MNA Mohammed Hussain Mehenti, Prof Saleem Memon, an office-bearer of the party in Liyari, Malik Abdur Rehman, party chief in Musa Lane and workers Sohail Ahmed Danish and Tahir.

Police said they also seized the audio equipment from the Pathan Masjid in Musa Lane where the JI leaders were addressing 70 to 80 participants in the demonstration against Israeli excavation work at the Al Aqsa mosque, local daily Dawn reported.
