"Of the 1400 farmers of Patwari village around 600 farmers have signed the pact and taken the hiked compensation cheque," Gautam Budha Nagar MP Surinder Singh Nagar said.

Around one hundred others are expected to complete the documentation on Thursday, he said.

The Allahabad High Court has fixed August 12 as the last date to execute the out-of-court settlement with Patwari farmers.

"We will submit the list of farmers who have executed the agreement and seek more time for completion of formalities.

"However till August 17 the farmers have been allowed to take the hiked compensation and sign the agreement. By that period we hope to have approval of more than 90% farmers," Nagar said.

Meanwhile, farmers at various villages held meetings to discuss their plans to move the court to get the hike in compensation on Patwari pattern.
