600 students, 65 colleges arrive for event
OVER 600 students from about 65 colleges of the country have arrived at the IIT-Kanpur to take part in various events at the three-day science and technological festival, Techkriti-2006. Organizers of the event are expecting students from about 100 colleges by tomorrow.

According to the coordinator at the Hospitality Cell Gaurav Srivastava, so far maximum teams have come from Southern states and Madhya Pradesh. Teams from UP colleges would arrive here tomorrow, he added.
Twenty-five students came from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal include Anuranjan Shetty, Pratik Jain, Harish Kuma, Komal, Abhilasha Keshariya, Suchi, Agicha, Ashish Wadhva, Apporva Dhingra and Jyoti Pathak. They said that they were stunned to see the beautiful campus and appreciated the lush green surrounding and peaceful atmosphere at the IIT.
They were highly impressed to see a petrol outlet at the institution and students did not have to go outside the campus for filling.
Students from Kumaon Engineering College Abhijeet, Divakar Dvesh and Piyush, who arrived here today, would participate in the quiz, Scmatex-Techolympiad, Cosmos, Nirman and other events at Techkriti.
They were impressed to see the peaceful academic atmosphere and pollution free environment on the campus. They were also impressed by the discipline observed by the IIT-K students while moving from one classroom to another.
Twenty-four students from JIIT, Noida also appreciated the natural surroundings and the cleanliness of the campus. They wondered as how the campus could be kept so clean despite a huge number of students. Out of 24 students, seven are girls— Pallavi, Anubhuti, Ankita, Amrita, Kirti, Priyanka and Prerna. Since all the girl students relished chatting sitting in a relaxed manner in a shady corner of the student activity center (SAC), the boys were busy in visiting the campus.
All these students were eager to participate in as many events as they could.
Four students from Government Engineering Colle ge, Amravati including PS Shnewai, Gajanan Patekar, Kedu Gangurde and Joy Kumar Landgey were spellbound to see the magnificent academic blocks and administrative building. Classrooms also attracted them the most.
Similarly, two students of Government Engineering College and one student from the PES College, Aurangabad S Kejhut and Santosh Gadekar, and Hari Prasad Tripurey respectively thrilled to be in the IIT-K. They said “In fact we have no words of appreciation for the Institute.
Almost all the students from different colleges, who had arrived, spoke very high about the serene campus situated amidst the natural beauty which presented a look of gurukul.
