About 65 per cent of the 3.40 crore electorate exercised their franchise in Rajasthan assembly polls at the close of a largely peaceful polling on Monday.

About65 per cent of the 3.40 crore electorate exercised their franchise in Rajasthan Assembly polls at the close of polling on Monday, officials said.

Dholpur recorded the maximum percentage of 60 followed by Sawaimadhopur at 55 per cent and Dungargarh at 32 per cent till 1500 hrs.

Meanwhile, an angry mob smashed anEVM at Ram Naga Dausi in Bamanwas police station.

Earlier, a fake voter allegedly smashed an EVMat Peethala village of Jaisalmer district and was immediately arrested, while a group of persons damaged an EVM at Behaj. An EVMfell down in Nandira village of Bharatpur district, the spokesman said.

Decision about repolling at the booths where the EVMs were damaged would be taken later, Chief Electoral Officer Lalit Kothari said.

Two polling agents clashed over issuing slips to voters at Kamalpura under Neem-ka-Thana, the police said, adding both of them were picked up by the local police and the situation was normal there within few minutes.
