Shyam Nandan Prasad, a resident of Gaur Green City apartments in Indirapuram, had gone for an evening walk, along with his grandson around 8.15pm.
Police investigations have revealed that Prasad may have protested after seeing the couple in an objectionable position inside the park.
“A guard at the park noticed a couple running out. While the young man pushed the guard and ran, leaving his motorbike behind, the girl also ran away, albeit in a different direction,” said JK Shahi, superintendent of police.
“It is evident that the victim had an altercation with the couple and was later stabbed in the abdominal region. He suffered multiple stab wounds and was declared ‘brought-dead’ at the hospital,” Shahi added.
Meanwhile, police have recovered the bike left behind by the alleged culprits. “We have sent our teams to trace the address of the culprits. We will nab them soon,” Shahi said.
Police have ruled out robbery or chain snatching as the motive behind the incident, as the victim’s valuables were intact.
