"The large-scale damage to tracks, vital signalling equipment and other installations during yesterday's bandh in Telangana has resulted in disruption of services and hence 70 trains have been cancelled for tomorrow," a South Central Railways (SCR) official said here today.

The Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) trains between Secunderabad and Falaknuma here apart from passenger/short distance express trains plying under Secunderabad-Kazipet, Kazipet-Dornakal, Kazipet-Ballarshah, Secunderabad-Mudkhed and Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar sections will not be operated.

"It has been decided not to run these trains as a precautionary measure. Damage to a single signalling panel causes a loss of more than Rs one crore. We cannot afford to suffer such losses. Besides, repair works are underway," SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Chandrima Roy said.
