"About 72 school children who were suffering from stomach pain after consuming contaminated food were hospitalised yesterday. Most of them were facing gastric trouble," Cheif Medical Officer, NK Gupta said.
The condition of children is stated to be normal, he said.
District Magistrate Moradabad, Amit Ghosh said that 120 children of a primary school at Shahalam Pur had consumed the mid-day meal of which 72 were reported sick.
"A high level inquiry has been set up and a criminal case was registered against the village Pradhan and school teachers and the supplying agnecy," he said.
The quality of the mid-day meal provided to children was not maintained, he added.
The administration has sealed the office of the supplying agency. This is the third incident when children have fallen sick after consuming mid-day meal in the district.
