78 arrested on Tripura border

BSF arrested 78 infiltrators, including 38 Indians who had crossed over without valid documents from different parts of the Indo-Bangla border in Tripura in the past one month, sources in the agency.

It also seized a large quantity of contraband items, forest produces, garments, fertilisers, liquor, sugar, cattle and the cough syrup Phensidyl valued at about Rs 44.23 lakh from their possession.

Most of the seizures were made in border locations of West and South Tripura district, the sources said. Tripura shares 856 km-long border with Bangladesh and most of the areas are porous.
