80,000 traffic challans settled

At least 80,000 pending traffic challans were today settled at lok adalats organised by Delhi Police and Delhi Legal Service Authority (DLSA), the highest on a single day.

The lok adalats were held at six courts complexes — Saket, Dwarka, Patiala House, Rohini, Tis Hazari, Karkardooma.

“At least 80,000 pending traffic challans were settled today," a senior official said.

An overwhelming compensation of R18 crore was awarded to various victims of accident cases, which were pending for several years to several months. More than 1042 cases of Motor Accident Claims Tribunal were disposed off in a day.

The Chief Justice of India (CJI) SH Kapadia also assisted in resolving various cases pending. The CJI referred the Lok Adalats an instant hit with the masses.
