A nine-year old, who was allegedly raped by two youths in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh last week, was shifted to Nagpur and admitted to a private super specialty hospital after mild kidney failure.
This is the second such incident within a fortnight when rape victims from Madhya Pradesh were brought to Nagpur for treatment.
Earlier, a four-year girl from Ghansaur in Seoni of MP, who was kidnapped and raped, was brought to Nagpur by an air ambulance from Jabalpur government medical college for treatment. However, she did not respond to the treatment and died at the hospital on April 29.
The girl from Shahdol was raped by two youths, Mahangu Kol (22) and another minor boy (16) at Akhetpura village in Shahdol district on April 23.
The victim had severe injuries in her private parts and was initially taken to the district hospital. She was then shifted to a government medical college and hospital in Jabalpur for better treatment. When her condition deteriorated, she was referred to a private super specialty hospital at Nagpur where on Friday early morning.
The victim, who is a student of class fourth, took her goats for grazing in the fields, situated around 2kms from her village on April 23 evening where the two youths forcibly took her to a nearby ditch and raped her.
The victim somehow reached her home in the evening and narrated the ordeal to her parents who immediately lodged a complaint with the police.
She was initially admitted to the local civil hospital and when there was no improvement in her condition, she was referred to the government run medical college and hospital in Jabalpur on April 24.
The local hospital sources informed that the girl was being attended by a team of six consultants after she was shifted to Nagpur from Jabalpur on Friday.
The victim, who was admitted in ICU on Friday morning, is reported to very critical. "She had low platelet counts with signs of acute kidney injury with fever," said a spokesman of the hospital.
