The condition of veteran Congress leader and former Union minister ABA Ghani Khan Chowdhury continued to remain critical at a nursing home in Kolkata on Wednesday.

"His condition of acute pancreatitis with multi-system organ support continues," a medical bulletin issued by the nursing home said.

Khan Chowdhury, who was admitted on April three after he fell ill, has been on a life support system since his admission to the nursing home.

The 79-year-old Khan Chowdhury was admitted to the nursing home after he was flown in from his home district of Malda in north Bengal with acute abdominal pain.

He was diagnosed with acute gall stone pancreatitis with renal complication and haemodynamic instability.
