THE HIGH Court deadline for the LDA to seal over a dozen such residential structures from which commercial activity was being undertaken in violation of land use and parking norms in Gomti Nagar comes to an end on Monday.
But, its business as usual for influential owners of these edifices, who, according to LDA officials, have sought 15 days more time to wind up their business.
It was on March 7 that the HC had directed the LDA to ensure compliance of its order before May 8. What the owners of these structures could not do in two months, they now plead would be set right in two weeks. Obviously, it appears to be just another tactics on their part to simply buy time in the hope that they would manage to obtain some sort of judicial remedy in between. In fact, if an officer of the enforcement section is to be believed, one of the owners of a house, who has let out his premises to a bank, has already got a stay order from the court.
“We are going to file an affidavit before the court detailing all the proceedings that we have initiated in the matter so far against the owners of these buildings under the law,” said LDA Vice Chairman BB Singh. Even after being repeatedly told and warned about the HC order if these people are still bent on flouting it let them face the music, he added.
Foremost among the structures on the hit-list is a marriage hall (Saubhagya) run from house number 5/34 in Vishal Khand of Gomti Nagar that belongs to Gauri Shankar (ex-MLA Samajwadi Party) and his wife Sangh Mitra (a PCS officer). A commercial complex at 3/187 in Vivek Khand of Gomti Nagar belonging to Sharda Prasad Yadav, a kin of former LDA VC and Housing Commissioner Ganga Deen Yadav, in which area earmarked for parking has been let out to a private telecom giant.
Then there is bank in House Number 4/275 of Vineet Khand, which belongs to Shitla Pal Singh, Sahayak Nagar Adhikari in the LDA. The Samajwadi Party MLA from the region Rajendra Prasad Yadav has also built shops in the basement reserved for parking in his commercial complex at Chinhat.
Others who have similarly flouted land-use/parking norms include Shiv Kumar Khatri 2/15 Vineet Khand of Gomti Nagar, Subhash Jain of Messrs Aarohi Construction CP-1 Vikas Khand Gomti Nagar, Anil Goel of Agarwal Builders, CP-2 Vikas Khand, Messrs GC Construction CP-3 Vikas Khand, Deva Sahkari Awas Samiti of former BJP corporator Dev Narain Mandal at CP-8 and 9 Viram Khand, Govind Plaza at Kamta Faizabad Road owned by Virendra Bahadur Singh and Umrao Market, Gazipur Faizabad Road belonging to Umrao.
