Coloured hair, kurtis and crinkled skirts dominated the fashion scene of 2004 and Preity Zinta was the style-icon among the college-goers. Her Lakshya look, mirror bags and Greek chappals were instantly picked up by the college students. Then her Pakistani suits from Veer Zara created a rage in the past shaadi season.

Let's take a look at what could be in next season:

What colours be in next season?

Puja Nayyar, fashion designer
Contrasts will make a statement next year. If peach was the colur this year then whites and darker monotones will dominate ramp scenes in 2005. Pink will be next fashion statement.

Who will be the next ramp scorcher?

Manpreet Brar, model
Though the Bong sisters Tupur and Tapur Chaterjee, along with Diandra Sores will continue to scorch the ramp, but Pia Trivedi is definitely the face to look out for.

What fabric/ motif will be in?

Monisha Bajaj, fashion designer
Well... woolens dominate the winters, so lets count this season out. The comfy cotton will be the preferred fabric in summers. Nothing can match a cream salwar suit, which has self-design imprint or embroidered borders. However, tissue saris or suits with some brocade ensemble should be preferred for the marriage season.

What about the punk look?

Jatin Kochhar, fashion designer
Yes, punk movement is gaining momentum in the West, so the look is coming back too. But I guess the scene will be different in India. I am sure no body wants to wear pink hair tones and blue contact lenses. Though figure hugging clothes may be followed on the ramp but I wonder if it will be a rage in the streets.

What hair colouring still be a rage?

Javed Habib, hair expert
Hair colouring will be a rage in 2005 as well. Red, blue, purple are definitely out. Bronze and copper will be preferred for hues.

And finally...
Can the clothes worn on ramp be replicated on the streets as well?

Vidhi Singhania, fashion designer
Yes, absolutely.
I believe that a fashionable dress is one which you can wear every day... it shouldn't be a skimpy piece of cloth which models usually flaunt on the ramp but can't be worn outside. I guess this is a general perception among the designers, hence they are concentrating on daily wear stuff.
Ethnic Indian wear like a saree or salwar-kameez can be given a western treatment for that 'cool look'. A lot of youngsters are working on such experiments and they are doing quite well. Their work is quite appealing.
