A world record for MS Dhoni

He has become the fastest keeper to score 1,000 ODI runs, writes Rajneesh Gupta.

MS Dhoni not only played a significant role in India's win in Lahore one-dayer, he also got a world record during his unbeaten innings of 72.

Dhoni was dismissed for a duck on his ODI debut, but since then he has never looked back. On Monday Dhoni completed 1,000 runs in his ODI career in his 29th innings (and 33rd match). In doing so he became the second quickest among the wicket-keepers after fellow teammate Rahul Dravid, who had taken just 23 innings to reach 1,000-run mark.

However Dravid was only a make-shift keeper and never a specialist in this field. Among the 'genuine' keepers, Dhoni is now the quickest to reach this landmark bettering England's Alec Stewart's record. Stewart had taken 31 innings and 34 matches to accomplish this feat.
