Meenu Chaudhary, DCP (north-west) said the accused was identified as Umesh Kumar Chauhan.
“Chauhan along with his juvenile accomplice committed the crime as both were angered that their employer, Abha’s husband Naresh, had paid them half their salary and rebuked Chauhan for having left the job before Diwali.”
“We zeroed-in on Chauhan and the juvenile, who had
been employed by the victim’s husband for 20 days. The two had left their job two days before Abha’s murder, which raised suspicion,” DCP Chaudhary said.
On October 15, Abha was found murdered at her residence. The police had claimed that her two minor children were present in the room at the time of the murder and that the locker’s key, containing R3.5 lakh, which Naresh had collected for purchasing a new flat, was missing. The key was found tied to Abha's necklace.
“Acting on a tip-off, the two were arrested from Old Delhi railway station area, Kashmiri Gate,” said DCP Choudhury. During interrogation, Umesh confessed to the crime.
