Abhishek Singhvi made Cong vice chairman

Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi was elevated as Vice-Chairman by party chief Sonia Gandhi today.

AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi was today made the Chairperson of the party's Media Department and spokesman Abhishek Singhvi was elevated as its Vice-Chairman by party chief Sonia Gandhi today.

Dwivedi replaces Ambika Soni who has been made a Union Minister. The post was lying vacant for long since Soni was inducted in the Cabinet and was holding additional charge of the party post.

Rajeev Shukla has been dropped in the reconstitution as a spokesman and Satyavrat Chaturvedi and Mukul Wasnik have been made the new Spokespersons along with Jayanti Natrajan, who retains the post.

Wasnik's appointment suggests that a reshuffle of the AICC Secretariat is on the cards as he is currently a party General Secretary. Chaturvedi is also a CWC member.

Tom Vadakkan, who has been handling the Media Department as Secretary for the last few years, continues in the post.

Members of the Media Committee would be announced later, Oscar Fernandes, who is in charge of the frontal organisations, said in a release.
